The Tequila Patron ALMS at Long Beach was an exciting race on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in SoCal. Although the qualifying sessions were hampered by torrential rain on Friday, by race time on Saturday, the storm had long moved through giving way to a great weather at the start. The large and enthusiastic crowd was treated to close and exciting ALMS racing at the premier North American street course.
The Tequila Patron ALMS Class winners are:
- P1 – Lucas Luhr & Klaus Graf in the #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a
- P2 – Scott Tucker & Christophe Bouchet in the #055 Level 5 Motorsports HPD ARX-03b
- PC – Alex Popow & Ryan Dalziel in a the #06 CORE Autosport Oreca FLM09
- GT – Oliver Gavin & Tommy Milner in the #4 Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1
- GTC – Damien Faulkner & Peter LeSaffre in the #34 Green Hornet Racing Porsche GT3 Cup
The Long Beach ALMS race was the first double victory of the 2012 season for Honda Performance Development, scoring wins in both the P1 and P2 classes. For Scott Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports, it was their second consecutive ALMS victory. It was also Tommy Milner’s first career ALMS victory and the first for the Gavin/Milner pairing for Corvette Racing in GT. Green Hornet Racing scored their GTC class win in only their second outing as an independent racing team.
